Manyawar Diwakar Caulla and Chacha Reba Caulla succumbed
to Billu’s devious ways. Billu alias
Shashi Vader successfully fought the criminal case in court by not contesting
the prosecution but pleading insanity. He performed ace act in court and
various instances of bizarre incidents involving him came handy for the judge to
remand him to a mental hospital for treatment. Four years later E Babu
received a letter from him gloating,
“E Babu I was released from the hospital after successful
treatment. I am a free man now. The curse of KD is gone. I am a contractor in
Gupt Kashi now; for every sanctioned tree felling, I fell three. This is really
good business. ….. Who says crime doesn’t
pay!
